Nangyar Koothu

Nangiar Koothu, also known as Nangyar Koothu, is a captivating and revered classical performing art that stands as one of the most distinctive offshoots of Kerala’s ancient Sanskrit theatre tradition, Kutiyattam. With a rich history spanning over 1,500 years, this mesmerizing art form finds its roots in the devotion of the Ambalavasi Nambiar community, particularly the women performers known as Nangyarammas.
